Proceedings of the Annual Conference on Research, Educational Implementation, Social Studies and History (AREISSH 2021)

This is an open access book. The education sector during the Covid-19 Pandemic is currently undergoing a total reformation. The education process at schools and colleges which was carried out face-to-face has now turned into virtual face-to-face learning utilizing various platforms. Also, the Covid-19 Pandemic has impacted the research and development process in the field which must be delayed due to the risk of Covid-19 transmission. In regard to this, the educational process does not run optimally. In fact, education is the process of developing the future generation of a country that are supposed to supported by all parties while looking for solutions to the problems at hand. As part of social sciences, the objects of historical study include humans who are bound by the dimensions of space and time. This confirms that history is part of science that is tied to human life. Therefore, various policies taken by the government must also be reviewed from the past historical experience with adjustments to the conditions of the era. Moreover, historical experience will provide an idea that humans are always innovating to solve the problems they face, especially policies related to education and learning.Based on those problems, History Education Study Program of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta will hold an international conference on "Future Teaching and Learning: A Disruptive Innovation." The aim of the conference is providing a forum for exchanging information and finding solutions to learning and teaching problems in the current era of disruption, considering that the Covid-19 Pandemic has changed everything. This conference will seek solutions and innovations from various perspectives which include social, historical and educational perspectives.

Industrial Economics

Monopoly is one of the topics under market structure in microeconomic theory. Comparatively, based on conventional economics, monopoly is the third best solution in economics because under its operational theories it can create Dead Weight Loss (DWL) to the society in term of increasing price and reduce quantity of product in order to increase monopoly profit and reduce the consumer surplus. However in my book of Industrial Economics: Monopoly in Islamic Perspective shown that monopoly power under control of Islamic man it will create more social benefit rather DWL. For example ZAM-ZAM water in Mecca Saudi Arabia is a natural monopoly the only one in the world, but King of Saudi Arabia he is an Islamic Man in this regard he can freely supply ZAM-ZAM water to the people all over the world. Nonetheless, if he is an economic man (Characters of selfish and opportunist and main motive of profit maximization) he can put the price of the only natural monopoly to the people based on his own greediness and monopoly power. To see the Islamic Ethic, Morality and Altruism as well as characters of Islamic Man, under monopoly power, although he/she is a monopolist it still could give benefit to society at large. Theory of Profit with Islamic Directions

THEORY OF PROFIT WITH ISLAMIC DIRECTIONS deals with a controversial and neglected, but nonetheless important subject. Readers will find the narration interesting and innovative, for it does not discuss profit theories of various writers separately in chronological order; instead, it identifies issues in the area and analyses the views of various writers on each to propose restructuring of the theory as per Islamic directions. The issues raised include the definition and seat of profit, the cause of its emergence and sources, the motivational aspects and their impact on allocation of resources and incomes distribution, the nature of profit and the regulatory policy role. The work concludes that the source of prevalent confusion on the subject lies in defining profit as a costs/revenues differential of firms and the insistence that it is exclusively attributable to the entrepreneurs who tend to be vanishing in the modern corporate era. For a reformulation of the theory to get rid of inconsistencies, the work suggests that profit should be viewed only as a cost/revenue differential delinked from reward; the firm – not the entrepreneur – should be the focal point for its study, the surplus beyond normal profit must be shared between capital and labour, subject to a minimum wage constraint, to promote social harmony and distributive justice. This book will appeal to the general reader who is looking for a lucid narration on a topic of common interest. Academics will find it interesting because of its historical updating and novelty of treatment. University students of economics will find this work an invaluable resource.
