Kebesaran dan keagungan Syekh Shaduq, menjadikan pemimpin kota Rey, yakni Rukn al-Dawlah al-Dailami meminta Syekh Shaduq untuk menetap di Rey dan menjadi pemimpin para pengikut Syi’ah. Akhirnya ia pun tinggal di Rey hingga wafatnya pada tahun 381 H. Syekh Shaduq hidup ketika masyarakat Syi’ah secara umum memiliki kebebasan yang relatif luas sehingga ia dapat mengadakan kunjungan ke berbagai daerah dengan leluasa dalam rangka menyebarkan ajaran-ajaran Ahlulbait as dan meluruskan segala isu miring tentang Syi’ah yang berkembang di tengah-tengah masyarakat saat itu. Untuk itu, Syekh Shaduq menulis sebuah sebuah buku yang diberi judul Al-I’tiqadat. Kitab ini memerikan dengan jernih tentang keyakinan-keyakinan Syi’ah. Misalnya tuduhan tentang tahrif al-Quran, Syekh Shaduq dalam kitabnya Al- I’tiqadat halaman 83-84 membantah dengan tegas hal ini dan menjelaskan: “Keyakinan kami tentang al-Quran, adalah Kalam Allah, wahyu-Nya, frman dan kitab suci-Nya. Ia tidak didatangi kebatilan dari depan maupun belakang. Ia diturunkan dari Zat Yang Mahabijak dan Maha Mengetahui. Ia mengandung kisah-kisah yang benar, ucapan pemutus, dan bukan senda gurau… Sungguh, keyakinan kami bahwa al-Quran yang diturunkan Allah kepada Nabi-Nya, Muhammad saw adalah apa yang termuat di antara dua sampul (mushaf ) yang sekarang beredar di tengah-tengah manusia. Tidak lebih dari itu. Jumlah surahnya adalah 114 surah… Dan barang siapa menisbahkan kepada kami bahwa kami meyakini al-Quran lebih dari itu, maka ia adalah pendusta.” Pendapat Syekh Shaduq ini merupakan pedapat muktabar Syi’ah hingga saat ini. Hal itu diterangkan lebih jauh oleh murid-murid beliau kelak. Sebagai orang yang memiliki kualitas keilmuan dan akhlak yang mulia, maka banyaklah orang yang menimba ilmu darinya. Di antara murid-murid Syekh Shaduq kemudian menjadi ulama-ulama papan atas dalam mazhab Ahlulbait adalah Syekh Mufd, Muhammad bin Muhammad bin Nu’man, Husain bin Abdillah, Harun bin Musa al-Tal’akburi, Husain bin Ali bin Babawaih al-Qommi, Hasan bin Husain bin Babawaih al-Qommi, Hasan bin Muhammad al-Qommi (pengarang kitab Tarikh-e Qom, sejarah kota Qom), Ali bin Ahmad bin Abbas al-Najasyi yang merupakan ayah penulis kitab Rijal al-Najasyi, dan Sayid Murtadha Alamul Huda yang merupakan penulis banyak buku dan ulama besar Syi’ah di zamannya

Sejarah dan Dinamika Pimpinan Cabang Istimewa Muhammadiyah Luar Negeri 2002-2022

Muhammadiyah setelah era tahun 2000 merintis dan memperluas kehadirannya di ranah global atau dunia internasional. Dimulai pendirian Pimpinan Cabang Istimewa Muhammadiyah (PCIM) dan Pimpinan Cabang Istimewa Aisyiyah (PCIA) di Cairo Mesir sebagai tonggak awal berdirinya perwakilan organisasi Muhammadiyah di luar negeri. Setelah itu PCIM-PCIA terus berkembang ke berbagai negara sehingga sampai tahun 2022 telah terbentuk 27 Cabang Istimewa. Pola kedua kehadiran Muhammadiyah di tingkat dunia ialah mengembangkan berbagai kerjasama yang dilakukan dengan pihak luar negeri baik dengan pemerintah maupun lembaga-lembaga non-pemerintah atau lembagai internasional lainnya. Termasuk di dalamnya melanjutkan program yang sudah berjalan dari periode ke periode yaitu penyelenggaraan berbagai forum, seminar, dialog, dan muhibah yang menegaskan Muhammadiyah merambah ke ranah global. Model ketiga, sejak periode 2015-2020 lahir tonggak baru yang penting (mailestone, ma’alimu fi at-thariq) dalam pergerakan Muhammadiyah di dunia internasional. Yaitu perintisan pusat keunggulan berupa amal usaha dan pusat dakwah sebagai bagian dari perluasan kehadiran Muhammadiyah di dunia internasional. Pimpinan Pusat Muhammadiyah sejak tahun 2018 membangun Markaz Dakwah Muhammadiyah di Cairo Mesir setelah Aisyiyah memiliki TK ABA yang sudah lama berdiri. Setelah itu tahun 2021 PP Muhammadiyah memperoleh idzin berdirinyan Universiti Muhammadiyah Malaysia (UMAM) serta di akhir tahun yang sama mendapatkan idzin berdirinya Muhammadiyah Australia College (MAC) di Melbourne Australia. Tiga tonggak penting program Muhammadiyah di ranah global atau internasional tersebut dicapai setelah perjuangan berat yang dilakukan PP Muhammadiyah bersama PCIM Mesir, PCIM Malaysia, dan PCIM Australia dengan segala dinamika suka-duka yang disertai keikhlasan, kesabaran, kesungguhan, kebersamaan, dan kerjasama di dalam dan dengan berbagai pihak di luar secara maraton berkelanjutan. Program-program unggulan tersebut merupakan pengejewantahan konkret dan strategis dari “Internasionalisasi Muhammadiyah” yang menjadi amanat Muktamar ke-47 tahun 2015 di Makassar, sekaligus pilihan strategis Pimpinan Pusat Muhammdiyah dalam mewujudkan Islam Berkemajuan di ranah global. Selain itu PP Muhamamdiyah melalui Lazismu juga mendirikan Madrasah atau Sekolah Muhammdiyah di Beirut Libanon untuk anak-anak Palestina, serta Sekolah Indonesia di Rohingnya Myanmar sebagai wujud program kemanusaan melalui pendidikan. Diharapkan ke depan program-program unggulan lainnya terus dibangun dan dikembangkan ke sejumlah kawasan negara lainnya di Asia, Afrika, Eropa, dan Amerika Serikat yang tentu saja memerlukan perjuangan tahap demi tahap secara berkelanjutan dari satu periode ke periode gerakan Muhammadiyah. Program amal usaha unggulan di kancah global akan lebih kokoh dan berjangka panjang dalam mewujudkan dan menyebarluaskan Islam Berkemjauan yang berwajah Rahmatan Lil-‘alamin secara nyata dan strategis sebagaimana pepatah “lisan al-hal afsahu min lisan al-maqal”, tindakan nyata jauh lebih dirasakan manfaatnya ketimbang serangkaian teori dan kata-kata!

The 'Abbasid Caliphate in Equilibrium: The Caliphates of Musa al-Hadi and Harun al-Rashid A.D. 785-809/A.H. 169-193

This volume of al-Tabari's History covers nearly a quarter of a century, and after covering the very brief caliphate of al-Hadi, concentrates on that of Harun al-Rashid. During these years, the caliphate was in a state of balance with its external foes; the great enemy, Christian Byzantium, was regarded with respect by the Muslims, and the two great powers of the Near East treated each other essentially as equals, while the Caucasian and Central Asian frontiers were held against pressure from the Turkish peoples of Inner Eurasia. The main stresses were internal, including Shi'ite risings on behalf of the excluded house of 'Ali, and revolts by the radical equalitarian Kharijites; but none of these was serious enough to affect the basic stability of the caliphate. Harun al-Rashid's caliphate has acquired in the West, under the influence of a misleading picture from the Arabian Nights, a glowing image as a golden age of Islamic culture and letters stemming from the Caliph's patronage of the exponents of these arts and sciences. In light of the picture of the Caliph which emerges from al-Tabari's pages, however, this image seems to be distinctly exaggerated. Al-Rashid himself does not exhibit any notable signs of administrative competence, military leadership or intellectual interests beyond those which convention demanded of a ruler. For much of his reign, he left the business of government to the capable viziers of the Barmakid family--the account of whose spectacular fall from power forms one of the most dramatic features of al-Tabari's narratives here--and his decision to divide the Islamic empire after his death between his sons was to lead subsequently to a disastrous civil war. Nevertheless, al-Tabari's story is full of interesting sidelights on the lives of those involved in the court circle of the time and on the motivations which impelled medieval Muslims to seek precarious careers there.
