Sedangkan pendidikan spiritual bertujuan untuk membentuk karakter, budi pekerti, moral atau akhlak. Pendidikan spiritual bertujuan untuk membangun dan membentuk kepribadian, karakter, watak, budi pekerti, moral dan akhlak. Dengan demikian, visi dan misi utama pendidikan nasional di Indonesia bertujuan menghasilkan insan ilmuwan yang beriman atau insan beriman yang ilmuwan yang berwawasan kebangsaan. Wawasan kebangsaan ini tentu merujuk pada Pancasila sebagai pandangan hidup bangsa.
