New technologies, skills, and procedures are the drivers of the new information society. Technologies improve the productivity and competitiveness of businesses while expanding markets and creating new opportunities for employers and employees. However, the use of technological devices, systems, and networks exposes businesses to different risks, thus the need for investment in information security. Information security is defined as the protection of information, systems, devices, and networks from third parties' access, use, disruption, modification, disclosure, and destruction, and ensuring that the data and systems are always available, confidential, and of high integrity. In the digitally connected financial world, inadequate information security will be akin to putting people's and banks’ confidential and financial data at risk. In this sense, risk refers to security breaches resulting in personal embarrassment, financial ruin, stolen trade secrets, and other serious consequences. Malevolent users can exploit the technologies. In addition, banking technology infrastructure could become a target of organised crime and other malpractices. This paper investigates how the banking industry can develop an effective cyber security strategy, as well as the challenges of adequately protecting against potential cyber-attacks.

The Paradigm of Islamic Political Economy

An Institutionalist Analysis of Myth and Reality

From its genesis in the seventh century onwards, Islam has been a major paradigm that has shaped the politico-economic life of a vast portion of the world population, nearly a quarter at present. In view of the underdeveloped or developing structures of Muslim-majority nations, it has mostly been assumed that Islam predicates an autocratic theocracy and a conservative, rather than a progressive, economic policy that retards scientific research and entrepreneurial innovation. Conversely, with a reactive consciousness, orthodox Muslims take it for granted that Islam's divinely ordained normative axioms would be enough for them to spontaneously establish the most conciliatory political regime on the earth and an advanced economic system irrespective of the power and money-oriented dimensions of human interaction and the assimilative potential of capitalist world economy. To clarify this ambiguity between the reductionist and mythicising perceptions over the theory and praxis of Islamic political economy, this paper first and basically examines its framing institutions at the level of theory and then the causes and consequences of [in]consistencies between its theoretical axioms and their praxis by the Muslim nations.

Buku berjudul “PESONA PASAR MALAM SEMAWIS: PENGEMBANGAN STRATEGIS DARI PERSPEKTIF PENGUNJUNG” ini merupakan potret ragam pendapat masyarakat yang telah atau pernah berkunjung ke Pasar Semawis. Pendapat para pengunjung merupakan subjektifitas masing-masing dari mereka dan tidak menutup kemungkinan pengunjung lain yang tidak tercover pada buku ini mempunyai pengalaman yang berbeda pula. Namun, penulis meyakini bahwa pendapat-pendapat pengunjung di sini bisa dijadikan sebagai langkah awal bagi berbagai pihak pengelola Pasar Semawis baik dari unsur masyarakat maupun pemerintah sebagai referensi dalam pengambilan langkah kebijakan ke depan dalam mengembangkan Pasar Semawis agar semakin maju. Pendapat masyarakat tersebut penulis kumpulkan dan analisis dengan menggunakan SWOT. Harapannya, hasil analisis tersebut dapat memberikan perspektif baru bagi berbagai stakeholder dalam menyikapi tuntutan perubahan ke arah yang lebih baik, dan membuat perencanaan yang lebih solutif dalam mengembangkan Kawasan Semawis sebagai salah satu area wisata kuliner yang sangat potensial dan iconic bagi Kota Semarang.
