Buku ini merupakan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan atas support dari Kementrian Pendidikan dan Kebudayaan, dalam bentuk hibah penelitian DRPM dan Pusat Kurikulum & Perbukuan. Buku ini mempelajari notasi gerak yang telah disederhanakan berdasarkan Notasi Laban, serta disesuaikan dengan materi pada kurikulum mata pelajaran Seni Budaya di kelas 7, khususnya Seni Tari. Tujuannya agar siswa SMP memiliki keseimbangan antara kemampuan berpikir dan bergerak dengan melakukan kegiatan membaca, menuliskan, dan meninterpreasikan simbol ke dalam gerak atau sebaliknya gerak ke dalam simbol.
