Knowing is a mode of being. Mengetahui dan pencarian atas pengetahuan untuk meraih kebijaksanaan adalah cara manusia menjadi “ada”. Kegiatan “ilmiah” dan peristiwa epistemologis yang melingkupinya merupakan modus operandi wujud kita. Lewat ilmu bukan hanya kualitas kemanusiaan semakin luhur (humanisasi), namun juga iman akan menemukan kematangannya (transendensi). Aktivisme yang didasarkan pada pengetahuan jauh lebih tepat ketimbang kegiatan yang tak melibatkan pengetahuan. Knowledge is for the sake of action. Dewasa ini, pada era digital yang ditandai kehadiran “kecerdasan artifisial”, ilmu dan teknologi bukan hanya penting tapi menjadi penentu dalam merumuskan berbagai hal. Knowledge is power. Melekat di dalam pengetahuan daya untuk mengubah keadaan. Tetapi apa sebenarnya ilmu itu? Apa sifat dan hakikat serta faedahnya termasuk kemungkinan keterbatasannya? Apa perbedaannya dengan agama, seni, filsafat, dan ideologi? Prosedur dan metode bagaimana yang harus ditempuh untuk melaksankan amal ilmiah? Dan apa pula yang dapat membatalkannya? Sebuah peta jalan filsafat ilmu dengan menggali dan menghidupkan lagi jejak integrasi filsafat, sains, dan sufisme agar kita bisa berkelit dari jebakan bibliolateri. Ketika menghadapi masalah, bukan pemahaman yang diperluas, tapi mereduksi masalah itu supaya masuk dalam pikiran kita yang sempit dan pada akhirnya menjadi awal kehancuran martabat kita, terlempar pada konflik, kontras, tumpang-tindih yang tak berkesudahan. Dengan demikian, ilmu menjadi jalan terang meraih kabahagiaan (tahshil al-sa’adah) dan “jangkar etis” untuk mengejar dan tiba pada kecerdasan yang menjulang sekaligus kearifan yang dalam.
